Demerger Information

Alumina Limited was formed in December 2002 as a result of the demerger of WMC Limited. The demerger of WMC was approved at a shareholders meeting which resulted in WMC changing its name to Alumina Limited and continuing on with the interest in Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals (AWAC) bauxite, alumina and aluminium assets. At the time WMC Resources Limited was also formed which held the other interests of WMC in nickel, copper, uranium and fertiliser business.

Demerger impact on shareholdings

When WMC Limited demerged in December 2002, eligible WMC Limited shareholders received one WMC Resources Ltd share for each WMC Limited share held and also retained their existing WMC Limited share (WMC Limited being renamed Alumina Limited). For example:
