Managing the AWAC Partnership

Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals (AWAC) is an unincorporated joint venture between Alumina Limited and Alcoa. Day-to-day management of AWAC’s global network of mining, refining and smelting interests rests with Alcoa. Alumina Limited contributes to strategy and other key decisions through the Strategic Council.

The Strategic Council is AWAC’s governing body. It has five members, three appointed by Alcoa (of which one is Chairman) and two by Alumina (of which one is Deputy Chairman). Alumina’s representatives are Chief Executive Officer, John Bevan, and General Counsel/Company Secretary, Stephen Foster.

The Strategic Council’s role is to consider:

The Strategic Council was established under and governed by the AWAC Agreements, which were signed by Alcoa and Alumina in December 1994. This established the foundation for AWAC.

The AWAC Agreements also contain the Formation Agreement and the Charter of the Strategic Council.
